SUMMARY:The Sonoma Valley Historical Society
Gary Andersen and Will Wallman present
\"Frank Matsuyama and His Fascinating Story\"
The Sonoma Valley Historical Society\'s February lecture will be about the life of Sonoma resident Frank Matsuyama, presented by Gary Andersen and Will Wallman. It will be held at the Sonoma Community Center, Room 110, on Saturday, February 8 at 11 A.M.

Frank (Atsuo) Matsuyama immigrated to California from Japan in 1903 at the age of 16. He moved to Sonoma and in 1912 married Georgiana Wallman Dolcini - one of the first Japanese/Caucasian marriages in California. They went on to have 8 children. He was a friend of Jack London as well as manager of his horse stable. He taught the Yawara art of self-defense to the San Francisco Police Department and was a decorated Navy veteran.

This is a compelling story of 20th century life in Sonoma but also the multifaceted life of a uniquely talented man. Will Wallmen is Frank Matsuyama\'s grandson and a former Sonoma County deputy sheriff and coroner.
