Thanks for supporting the work of Friends of the Library with high quality sale-able books. Our book sales have the potential to generate significant resources for funding additional programs and activities at our Sonoma Valley Library branch. So here once again are the guidelines to follow as you select your books, etc. to donate.

We are always looking for and LOVE to get:

Childrens’ books in good condition
Cookbooks (in good condition - no markups, food stains, etc)
Fiction (especially current authors)
Non-fiction
Art books, Gardening, Craft books
Hard and soft cover books in good condition. (Mass-market paperbacks in ‘like new’ condition)
DVDs (current movies / TV shows, classics)
Music CDs
Vinyl records in good condition


We can't accept:

Books that are worn, torn, chewed, underlined or annotated, have yellowed pages, mold, odor, or water-damaged.
Books that are underlined, marked up, annotated, or have multiple bookmarks or dog-eared pages.
Textbooks, manuals, encyclopedias, dictionaries, thesauruses
Travel guides, movie review guides,
Computer books over 1 year old
Cassette and VHS tapes
Magazines, newspapers, pamphlets
Non-book materials such as journals, scratch pads, bookmarks, gift cards, stationery
These are unsaleable. We must pay for these discards to be picked up, lowering the amount of funding we can provide our library. Please be mindful of these guidelines, so that your donations make the biggest impact.
