Sonoma Creek Lower Headwaters Wildflower & Nature Hike
9:00 AM
Sugarloaf Ridge State Park
Sonoma Creek Lower Headwaters Wildflower & Nature Hike Description:
Join retired professor Steve Hackett for a fun wildflower and nature hike. Office hours without the office! Having bid farewell to spring, we will be looking for summer-blooming species including larkspurs, monkeyflowers, clarkias, and lilies, and we will discuss the ecology of plant communities and how they respond to geology, fire, human interventions, and pollinators. Our route on the Lower Bald Mountain, Meadow, Hillside, and Creekside Nature Trails highlights the park's diverse landscapes and natural beauty while avoiding steep exposed climbs.

Meet at the main parking lot. Tickets are $10 for general audiences, $5 for students, youth (12-17 year olds must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian), Sugarloaf members, Sugarloaf or RFO volunteers, and free for children under 12. Wear comfortable clothing, appropriate footwear for rocky/slippery trails, and sun protection. Bring at least a quart of water, hiking poles, and if you desire, a snack. Parking fees apply.
