Film: Small is Beautiful & Panel Discussion Description:
Please join us as we continue our efforts to educate the greater public about the situation at the SDC and development projects in the larger Sonoma Valley.

We are sponsoring the first public screening of a short film, Small is Beautiful – The Quest to Save the Valley of the Moon, by local award-winning filmmaker, Carolyn M. Scott. The film highlights the problems with over-development and our community’s efforts to save the publicly-owned resources of the Sonoma Developmental Center.

The documentary exposes the collusion between state mandates and profit-driven developers. As California faces stringent housing quotas, communities like Sonoma Valley grapple with the repercussions of urbanization, wildfire, and stresses on our public resources. The film raises
critical questions about who truly benefits from profit-driven policies that do not serve our communities.

Following the film, there will be a panel discussion focused on the positive possible solutions to the problem of potential over-development and time for questions and answers.

David Bolling, Editor of the Sonoma Valley Sun will moderate and panelists include Norman Gilroy (Architect, SVNext 100) and Bean Anderson (Glen Ellen Historical Society), Carolyn Scott, (award
winning filmmaker) and Larry Barnett (Chair, Sonoma Planning Commission).

Check out the poster attached for details. Advance ticket purchase is required through Sebastianitheatre.com/tickets. Prices are on a sliding scale between $5 and $25.

A further description of the event is available at SonomaValleyNext100.org.
We are looking forward to seeing you at the movie!
