Description:
A Solo Exhibition and Sale of Abstract Art by Rich Lee
Hello and welcome to RichLee Art.
The excitement and anticipation are building for the first ever exhibit of my art.
When I think back over the last 20 years or so since I started painting, I realize that I never thought of myself as a “real artist”. You’ve heard of “imposter syndrome”?
I remember taking some classes at the Sonoma Community Center which I can now look at as the start of my interest in art. There were two people who had a big influence on me in my early days of painting. The first was Michael Holland, a unique style of creating abstract landscapes. He was a local artist and has since relocated to Hawaii.
The second major influence on me was and continues to be Alex Cole. I took some classes from her, also at the Community Center. Alex has become a well-known and successful artist – painting mostly abstract landscapes. You can see her work at Alex Cole Studio.com. When I started getting serious about painting a couple of years ago Alex encouraged me and convinced me that I am, in fact, an artist. Thank you, Alex!
My most recent influence is the French abstract artist, John Beckley who has a unique style all his own. While I have used many of his techniques I feel that my style is unique as well and is constantly evolving.
So, save the date – Friday, June 2 –for the opening night reception. I am so looking forward to it
