Habitat Hikes: Grasslands & Meadows
10:00 AM
Sugarloaf Ridge State Park
Habitat Hikes: Grasslands & Meadows Description:
What is a habitat? Join CA Naturalist and Sugarloaf docent Marie Kay Hansen through the featured habitat: grasslands and meadows. As we hike along the Meadow Trail, we will learn about our biodiverse grasslands. We will talk about the geological, climate, and other features that keep it a grassland. Grasslands were very important to the Native peoples of this area. Many plants and animals thrive in the park's largest meadow at the end of Adobe Canyon Rd. If you like bring binoculars This hike is the second in our four-part ‘Habitats of Sugarloaf’ hike series. Other hikes will explore redwood forest habitat and oak woodlands. Past hikes have explored chaparral habitat.

Meet at the White Barn parking lot. Tickets are $10 for general audiences, $5 for youth (12-17 year olds), students, Sugarloaf members, Sugarloaf or RFO volunteers, and free for children under 12. Tickets day-of on site are $15 and might not be available. All children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Wear layers, appropriate footwear for muddy and/or slippery trails, bring at least a quart of water, sun protection, and if desired, a snack. Heavy rain cancels. Parking fees apply.
